Pastor Kumuyi honoured by Zambian President, others for 50 years of church building, soul-winning

The Founder and General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry International, Pastor William Kumuyi, has been honoured by the President, Republic of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, for his commitment to church building and soul-winning for the past 50 years in Africa and beyond.

The commendation was given when he hosted Kumuyi, who was accompanied by his wife, Esther Kumuyi, and members of the Zambian Church Mother Bodies, comprising Council of Churches and the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia in Lusaka.

Kumuyi paid the courtesy call on Hichilema, in connection with a seven-day crusade he held in Lusaka, Zambia from 21 to 27 of September 2023.

The crusade was attended by thousands of people, who came from different parts of Zambia and neighbouring countries. Many of them testified of the impact of the messages preached by Kumuyi, which, they said, brought them closer to God and inspired them to live better lives.

According  to Hichilema, “During our meeting, we discussed the significance of national development being rooted in Christian values. This approach greatly assists citizens in leading honest lives, thereby reducing crimes such as corruption and other vices.

“We expressed our admiration for Dr. Kumuyi’s unwavering commitment to church building and soul-winning for the past 50 years in Africa and beyond. We urged him to continue this noble mission.

“Furthermore, we reaffirmed our government’s steadfast dedication to promoting the preaching of the Gospel in Zambia, and implored  pastors to continue guiding us, under the trust of the people

“We commended the Zambian Church Mother Bodies for their unity in hosting this revered man of God. This act clearly demonstrates that the Body of Christ is unified in purpose in Zambia.”

Kumuyi expressed gratitude for the warm reception he received in Zambia and spoke of the urgent need for spiritual revival in Africa and beyond. He underscored the importance of Christians living exemplary lives in order to impact the world positively.

His words: “We are here to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is the only way to true peace and happiness,” as he commended Hichilema for his commitment to good governance, and assured him of his continued prayers and support for his administration in Zambia.

The Zambian Church Mother Bodies, comprising Council of Churches and the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia, expressed their gratitude to Kumuyi for the impact of his ministry in Zambia and other parts of Africa.

They pledged to continue working together to promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to support the good governance agenda of the Hichilema-led government in Zambia.

Kumuyi has been a strong advocate for soul-winning and church planting in Africa and other parts of the world. He founded the Deeper Christian Life Ministry International in Nigeria in 1973 and has since then overseen its growth to become one of the largest Pentecostal churches in the world, with branches in over 100 countries.

Kumuyi is also known for his emphasis on the importance of holiness and godliness in the lives of Christians, and his teaching on the doctrine of separation from the world has been a source of inspiration to many.
