Makinde Affirms Commitment to NYSC Initiatives

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State reaffirmed his administration’s strong backing for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programmes.

He made the announcement during the inauguration of the 2024 Batch B Stream II orientation camp for newly deployed corps members, held in Iseyin.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youths and Sports, Mrs. Olubukola Oladipo, the governor emphasised the administration’s commitment to fostering a supportive environment for NYSC activities.

“This government is dedicated to empowering the youth,” Oladipo stated.

She highlighted the appointment of a dynamic young leader as the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, who also chairs the NYSC State Governing Board.

The administration has initiated several development programmes that allow the youths to apply their skills and knowledge in meaningful ways, ultimately benefiting the state.

Oladipo encouraged the corps members to view their service as an opportunity for growth, urging them to embrace qualities such as dedication and humility.

She also advised them to network and learn from one another during this transformative period.

NYSC Coordinator for Oyo State, Mr. Abel Odoba, urged corps members to engage fully in the orientation activities, which are designed to foster citizenship and leadership skills.

He underlined the importance of understanding local cultures and contributing to the community throughout their service year.

The orientation event culminated in the administration of Oaths of Allegiance by Justice Iyabo Yerima, the Chief Judge of Oyo State, marking a significant moment for the corps members as they embark on their national service journey.
