Delta police arrests nursing mother for throwing her baby in a river because her friends were mocking her

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a woman identified as Blessing Ibuku, who allegedly murd#red her 10-month-old child, Prevail Jonathan. The suspect confessed to the police that she threw her baby into the river on November 31, 2024.

Parading the suspect before newsmen today, December 17, Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, disclosed that a case of a missing 10-month-old child named Prevail was reported to the police on December 4, 2024.

While at the station, alongside Blessing, the CP said Police received a call that a child was found floating at the Aviara community river.

He said that when the de@d child was brought to the station, it was discovered that it was the body of the same missing child.

According to the police CP, the suspect confessed during investigation that she threw the baby away because her friends and other girls were making jest of her that the child did not have a father.

The police boss then mentioned that the suspect will be arraigned in court as soon as possible.
