When Last Did You Visit Imade?” – Uche Maduagwu Slams Davido Over Lavish Display at Manager’s Wedding

Nollywood actor Uche Maduagwu has once again taken aim at Afrobeats star Davido, calling him out for allegedly neglecting his daughter, Imade, while flaunting wealth on social media.

Over the weekend, Davido sparked reactions online after videos surfaced showing him spraying bundles of naira at the wedding of his longtime manager, Asa Asika. The display didn’t sit well with Maduagwu, who criticized the singer for prioritizing materialism over parenting.

In a series of Instagram posts, Uche questioned when Davido last reached out to his daughter, Imade, whom he shares with Sophia Momodu. He accused the singer of maintaining a “fake lifestyle,” pointing out the contradiction between his extravagant spending and his ongoing legal tussle with Momodu over financial support.

“Davido, stop living a fake lifestyle. When last did you call or visit Imade? You boast of $500,000 diamond teeth and $2 million in jewelry, but you’re dragging Sophia to court over money that doesn’t even amount to the cost of your teeth?” Maduagwu wrote.

He went on to urge the award-winning musician to channel his wealth into his daughter’s wellbeing rather than luxury items. “Invest in Imade, not diamonds. You claim Sophia requested ₦5 million annually for accommodation and $800 monthly for a nanny—yet you’re showing off diamond accessories worth millions. How does that add up?”

This isn’t the first time Maduagwu has publicly criticized Davido over his parenting. Last year, he chastised the singer for gifting a car to talent manager Ubi Franklin while allegedly failing to meet Sophia Momodu’s financial needs. He argued that Davido, as a father, should prioritize his child’s welfare above public displays of affluence.

Davido and Sophia Momodu are currently locked in a custody battle over their daughter. In June 2024, Davido filed a lawsuit seeking joint custody, accusing Sophia of denying him access to Imade and attempting to extort money from him. Sophia, however, rejected the claims and opposed the custody request, citing concerns over Davido’s parenting abilities—especially in light of the tragic death of his son, Ifeanyi.

Tensions between the ex-partners intensified after Davido rekindled his relationship with Chioma Rowland, now his wife. Following the reunion, Sophia took to social media with cryptic posts and later accused the singer of emotional and financial abuse.

In one instance, Sophia shared a heartbreaking chat between Imade and her grandmother, revealing the child’s emotional distress over her father’s absence and the loss of her younger brother.

As the custody battle unfolds, public opinion remains divided, with many calling for both parents to put the child’s best interest first.
