Peter Obi Donates N20 Million to Niger Flood Victims, Pledges Personal Visits to Bereaved Families

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has extended a gesture of compassion to victims of the recent flood disaster in Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State, donating the sum of N20 million to support affected families.

Obi made the donation on Monday during a visit to the state, where he pledged to personally meet with bereaved families to offer direct condolences and support.

Upon his arrival in Minna, Obi was received at the Niger State Government House by the Deputy Governor, Yakubu Garba. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and displacement caused by the devastating flood, which reportedly claimed 153 lives, with over 100 individuals still unaccounted for.

The former Governor of Anambra State offered prayers for the repose of the souls of the deceased and strength for the grieving families, describing the incident as a heartbreaking tragedy.

Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba, who welcomed Obi, commended his timely intervention and humanitarian spirit. He acknowledged the Labour Party candidate’s consistent empathy for victims of natural disasters across the country, highlighting his commitment to social welfare and national unity.

Obi’s visit and donation come at a time when local and state authorities are working to provide relief and restore normalcy to the affected communities. His pledge to engage directly with the victims’ families further underscores his hands-on approach to addressing humanitarian crises.
