SWEGOP Tasks South West Development Commission on Quality, Timely Project Delivery

The South West Guild of Online Publishers (SWEGOP) has called on the newly inaugurated management of the South West Development Commission (SWDC) to hit the ground running with visionary programmes, prioritizing quality and timely delivery of projects.

In a news release jointly signed by its Chairman Bisi Oladele and Public Relations Officer Remi Oladoye, SWEGOP congratulated members of the newly inaugurated management of the regional commission, urging them to embark on projects and programmes that will accelerate the development of South West.

It enjoined the commission to collaborate with the Development Agenda for Western Nigerian (DAWN) Commission to strengthen regional integration, and stimulate economic activities that can transform the region into a hub of innovation, investment and industrial growth.

“SWEGOP welcomes SWDC to the overall efforts at making South West Nigeria the best place to live, invest, study and recreate. The DAWN Commission has laid a good foundation for efforts on this, hence the need to collaborate with it for optimum resource utilization and impactful results. Riding on the frameworks developed by the DAWN since 2013 will enhance speedy achievements of SWDC lofty goals.” The release read in part.

According to the guild, the commission has a critical role to play in addressing long-standing development challenges in the region, particularly in infrastructure, agriculture, education, youth empowerment and promotion of the core values of the people of the region.

SWEGOP expressed confidence in the ability of the key leaders of the commission – chairman, Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi; Senator Yunus Akintunde and Hon. Akeem Adeyemi who head the National Assembly committees on the commission – to deliver on their mandate. It expressed optimism that the commission’s Managing Director Dr. Charles Akinola will bring his wealth of experience working with international development agencies and in public service in Nigeria to bear in efficiently managing the commission.

SWEGOP believes that given the calibre of people selected to lead the commission, SWDC is poised to meet the high expectations of the people of the region.

“We expect the management team to design and implement programmes and projects that will bring tangible difference to the lives of the people and uplift the South West economically and socially,” the release added.

The guild pledged to closely follow the activities of the commission, assuring of holding its leaders accountable while objectively reporting its activities ..
