Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ogun East Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Abiodun secured victory in the party’s senatorial primary election conducted across the nine local government areas of the district on Monday.
The results of the exercise were announced at Itoro Hall in Ijebu-Ode by the returning officer for the senatorial district, Wale Bello.
According to Bello, the Ogun State governor polled 75,560 votes out of the 99,503 registered voters who participated in the primary election.
The APC primary formed part of the ruling party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Speaking after being declared winner, Abiodun expressed gratitude to God and party members for the confidence reposed in him.
The governor also appreciated APC supporters and loyalists across Ogun East Senatorial District for their support during the exercise.
He pledged to justify the trust placed in him and assured party members that he would remain committed to the ideals and progress of the APC.
Party faithful and supporters who attended the announcement of the results applauded the peaceful conduct of the exercise.
