Nigerian singer and songwriter, Lami Philips is yet to get over the shocking death of Nigerian rapper, Olanrewaju Fasasi, popularly known as Sound Sultan, who died on Sunday July 11 of Angioimmunoblastic T- Cell Lymphoma in the United States of America.
For Philips, Sound Sultan was indeed an angel on earth and there are certain lessons to be picked from the lifetime of the music star.
Taking to her Instagram page, Lami Philips enlisted the lessons; “Lanre.. always smiling.
Lessons learnt from SoundSultan will be back soon but in the meantime:
– better to listen and learn that to speak and offend.
-smile always your heart will take note and find joy from it
-forgive quickly, if you don’t .. you’re the one who suffers. The truth is that bitterness cannot live comfortably in light.
-express yourself authentically. It’s ok if nobody understands or validates it.. be yourself.
-even when the world gets ugly, stay kind. Don’t let anyone change you.
-there’s always something to laugh about .: you just need to have a childlike heart.
-there’s a lot people don’t see or acknowledge that you do., it’s ok.: keep doing it and glorify God. They may never say thank you, they may even spit in your face.. but you stay focused on purpose.
-Let God lead. God leading you won’t always align with popular opinion, that’s ok. Let God lead.
Lanre, I miss having you as a safe place .. pray for me. Thanks for being my Angel here on earth.
Your legacy lives on.. @idcabasa @babadeeninja and @efeomorogbe are the best caretakers of your artistic legacy. Miss you Bruv,” she wrote.
Sound Sultan lost his battle with cancer at the early hours of the fateful day. He peacefully buried according to Muslim rites and tradition.
