Peter Obi and Dino Melaye declare support for Ike Ekweremadu over human trafficking allegation.

Nigerian politicians, Peter Obi and Dino Melaye have shown support for their embattled colleague, Ike Ekweremadu, who was arrested in the UK over organ harvesting allegation.

It would be recalled that the former deputy senate president, and his wife, Beatrice, were arraigned before a UK magistrate court on Thursday, June 23, for allegedly taking a 15-year-old boy from Nigeria to the UK to harvest his organs.

They allegedly committed the crime because they need a kidney donor for their ailing daughter who is battling with a kidney disease.

However, it’s been revealed that the Enugu lawmaker informed the British High Commission about the kidney donation for his daughter in a letter addressed to the commission.

In the letter, Ekeweremadu stated that he was writing in support of a visa applicant who was scheduled for “medical investigations for a kidney donation to Ms Sonia Ekweremadu”.

Peter Obi, took to Twitter to show support for the embattled politician and his family while praying for justice to be served.

“My family and I are with the Ekweremadu’s over their travail. We join all men of goodwill in praying for the healing of their daughter and commit them into God’s hand for justice to be done. -PO”, he tweeted via his official Twitter handle.

Former Senator, Dino Melaye also took to his Instagram page to drum support for Ekweremadu.

“Sen. Ike Ekweremadu notified the British authorities on his trip with the said boy. I stand with Ike”, he wrote while sharing a copy of the letter.
