BCOS NUJ Chairperson blazes trail again, becomes first female Head of State Council Credentials Committee

Less than a month after becoming the first lady to head the BCOS chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Dupe Fehintola has again set another pace after being appointed the first Chairperson of Credentials/Screening Committee of the Union’s State Council.

The Screening/Credentials Committee, saddled with the responsibility of organising the Union’s State Council election in December this year, was on Wednesday inaugurated at the Union’s monthly Congress held at its Secretariat in Iyaganku Quarters, Ibadan.

The five-man Credentials/Screening Committee chaired by Comrade Dupe Fehintola of the BCOS Chapel, also has Comrade Nurudeen Alimi of the Tribune as its Secretary, while Comrade Remi Afonja of the NTA Chapel, Comrade Temilola Akarah of the Information Chapel and Comrade Khalid Imran of the Oke-Ogun Information Chapel will serve as members.

Unveiling the Committee members at the Union’s State Congress on Wednesday, the Chairman, Oyo NUJ, Comrade Ademola Babalola, charged the members of the Credentials Committee to be dilligent while carrying out the task before them.

Comrade Babalola told the Committee that all eyes are now on them to organise a credible, free and fair election.

While performing the official inauguration of the Committee, a Trustee of the National body of the Union, Comrade Bayo Akamo, called on members of the Committee to discharge their duties without bias, adding that their appointment is a true test of their integrity which must not be dented for any reason.

Reacting on behalf of other members of the Committee, the Chairman, Comrade Dupe Fehintola, pledged total commitment to effective delivery of the Committee’s task, stating that the confidence reposed in the Committee will not be taken for granted

She also assured members of the Union of fair and equal treatments of all aspirants in the forthcoming NUJ State Council election.

The Committee members, whose nomination was unanimously adopted by the Congress of the State NUJ, will subsequently be presented to the National Secretariat of the Union for ratifications.
