Nigerian Police Arrest Four Suspected Cultists In Ogun

The arrest follows another attack by a rival cult group on Friday night.

The Ogun State Police command said four suspects have been arrested allegedly in connection with the killing of a barber at Isale Oja Kuto, Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital by suspected cultists on Wednesday.

The state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu said the arrest followed another attack by a rival cult group on Friday night, in which a 48-year-old Point Of Service operator, Fatai Kehinde was killed under the Kuto bridge, Abeokuta.

The POS operator identified as Faity and the son of the Baale of Kuto Community, Abeokuta, was reportedly butchered by his assailants, who chased him from his shop inside the Kuto market to under the Kuto bridge.

“We have successfully arrested four people in connection with the killing of the barber by some suspected cultists a few days ago,” he said.

“We are also on the trail of others, and this is just to say that there is no hiding place for criminals in the state. We will apprehend everyone involved in the killings and make them answer for their action

The menace of cultism and wanton killings has been a major challenge to contend with in many parts of the state, despite the window of opportunity extended by the police in the form of amnesty for cultists and other criminal elements to renounce their membership.
