Police Arrest 13 Over Killing of Naval Officer in Kaduna

Thirteen suspects have been arrested by the Kaduna State Police Command following the tragic murder of a naval officer, Lt. Commodore M. Buba, in the Kawo area of Kaduna.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, the incident occurred at about 5:20 a.m. on Sunday, near the Kawo flyover. The officer, who was a senior course student at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, had reportedly experienced a flat tyre while driving from Jaji and was attempting to replace it when the attack happened.

Hassan explained that an unknown assailant approached Lt. Commodore Buba at the bus stop, demanding his mobile phone. When the officer refused and challenged the demand, the attacker stabbed him in the chest with a locally-made knife.

Passersby quickly responded to the scene and overpowered the attacker, who was reportedly lynched on the spot. Meanwhile, the injured officer was rushed to Manaal Hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival.

In the aftermath of the incident, police operatives conducted a targeted raid in the Kawo area, leading to the arrest of 13 individuals found in possession of knives and other dangerous weapons.

DSP Hassan confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the involvement of the arrested suspects and to ensure justice is served. The police have also intensified patrols and surveillance in the area to prevent further criminal activity.
