Controversial Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has reignited conversation surrounding his tumultuous personal life with a bold statement aimed at those who, he claims, interfered in his marital affairs.
In a strongly worded post shared on his Instagram page, the actor alleged that individuals who criticized him over his controversial marriage to fellow actress Judy Austin are now facing various personal and professional setbacks.
“All the people who attacked me over issues that didn’t concern them are now suffering,” Edochie wrote. “Some have lost their marriages, others their careers. Some are still searching for a spouse or are confused about their identity. Many have become online beggars.”
The actor, who made headlines in 2022 for taking Judy Austin as a second wife—sparking backlash and the eventual breakdown of his first marriage to May Edochie—warned that those who publicly judged him without understanding the full context would continue to face hardships unless they publicly apologized.
“You will continue to suffer until you apologise to me for fighting me when I did nothing to you,” he declared. “A message to others who want to join them—if you don’t mind your business, you’ll destroy yourself.”
Marital Controversy and Legal Fallout
Yul’s relationship with Judy Austin has been the subject of intense public scrutiny. His marriage to May Edochie—mother of his four children—collapsed after his second marriage became public. In response, May filed for divorce, reportedly demanding ₦100 million in damages from Judy Austin and obtaining a restraining order against Yul, along with full custody of their children.
The family drama took another dramatic turn in 2023 when Yul accused May of undergoing cosmetic procedures, including a breast enlargement and tummy tuck, while mourning their late son. He further alleged she had done so with the support of a “married boyfriend”—claims that were widely criticized as insensitive.
Judy Austin Speaks Out
Judy Austin, for her part, addressed her past in a 2023 interview, revealing that her first marriage ended in 2013 and refuting allegations that she was involved in infidelity. She maintained that her relationship with Yul began long after her first marriage was over.
Despite the heavy backlash and family drama, Yul has remained defiant, often addressing critics on social media and describing himself as a “special person” favored by God.
