21 Year Old Suspected Criminal Arrested Over Child Trafficking

Suspected child trafficker arrested while attempting to abduct a one year three months old girl from her parent’s house in Enugu

Police Operatives of the Enugu State Command serving in the Igbo-Eze North Police Division working with the Neighborhood Watch Group has smashed a child stealing syndicate and arrested one Ifeanyi Omeke, 21, at Igogoro Village in Enugu-Ezike community of Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, on October 27, 2023, at about 1.30 p.m.

A statement released by the spokesperson of the command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said the suspect was nabbed after he sneaked into the complainant’s house in the mentioned community and attempted to steal a one-year, three-month-old girl child.

‘’The suspect confessed to the crime, stating that he was contracted by his cohorts at large to steal children for ritual and other criminal purposes.” Ndukwe said

He added that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State CID for further thorough investigation that will lead to the arrest of other members of the criminal syndicate and their prosecution.
