Oyetola,Wike, Edun, el-Rufai, Adelabu, Edu, others on Tinubu’s ministerial list

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted his list of Ministers to the Senate for screening. He had promised to do so by Thursday (today) to meet the 60 days constitutional requirement for submission.

It was learnt that the ministerial-nominees list arrived in the Senate in the early hours of Thursday.

The list was said to have been delivered to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly (Senate), Abdullaahi Gumel.

Akpabio is expected to unveil the ministerial-nominees during plenary on Today.

A peep into the list submitted by the President shows that a former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, and a former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai made the list.

Two other former Governors: Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State and Prof. Ben Ayade of Cross River State, are also on the list.

Others  on the list include a financial guru, Wale Edun, and a legal luminary, Lateef Fagbemi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

The President’s Special Adviser on Media, Strategy and Special Duties, Dele Alake, also made the Ministerial list alongside the candidate of Accord Party for the 2023 governorship election in Oyo State, Bayo Adelabu.

The National Woman Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Beta Edu, made the list alongside Mohammed Ali Pate, a Harvard Professor of Medicine, who had earlier served as Minister of State for Health in the Administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Different purported ministerial lists have been in circulation as the President kept Nigerians guessing.

It was further gathered that to form a government of national unity, as speculated in some quarters, the President will accommodate some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu took the oath of office on May 29, when former President Muhammadu Buhari handed over the mantle of leadership to him and was expected to form his cabinet within 60 days of resuming office, in accordance with the constitution.

The President is expected to send 43 names, one nominee per state, including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, that’s 37. The list will also include a name from each of the geo-political zones in the country.

‘’I know Mallam Nasir el-Rufai is on the list; the lawmaker representing Lagos East senatorial district, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, too may be on the list if he is not changed. Former Osun State governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola too is there. Legal luminary, Mr Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, may likely emerge as the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice because last week, he was still being debated,” a source had earlier release to journalists
