Tinubu assures Nigerians of economic recovery

President Tinubu on Friday in Abuja reassured Nigerians that no stone will be left unturned in his administration’s multifarious efforts to stimulate the economy and make it work for the greatest good of all Nigerians.

The President stated this in a meeting held at the State House with the Board of Trustees of the All Progressives Congress Professionals Forum led by former Bauchi State Governor, Isa Yuguda.

“This economy must recover for the good and greatest number of Nigerians, and we are seriously committed to seeing through a change for the better,” he said.

To steadily ensure measured growth and enhanced public enlightenment on policy outcomes, President Tinubu said every effort across sectors would be documented and periodically reviewed for performance verification and public presentation.

“So far, we have taken some baby steps and pushed some aggressive positions,” the President told the APC professionals, who had earlier pledged their support for the reforms.

Meanwhile, the Trade Union Congress on Friday said it had yet to get update from President Bola Tinubu following the meeting the leaders of the organised labour had with the Presidency on August 3, 2023.

The TUC, however, said it was observing developments and would continue to monitor as events continued to unfold.

The PUNCH reports that following the nationwide protest of the organised labour, which held on Wednesday, August 3, 2023, Tinubu in a private meeting with the national presidents of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero; and the Trade Union Congress, Festus Osifo, said that the President made a series of promises following which they agreed to return to the negotiation table.

“He (Tinubu) promised to unveil a workable roadmap to the CNG alternative next week. On the strength of the president’s pledge and commitment, we have decided to return to a new and reinvigorated dialogue process to allow for full implementation.

“Once again, we thank Nigerians while we wait for the Government to fulfill its own part of the understanding as agreed with His Excellency; the President,” part of statement of the labour leaders read.

But speaking to our correspondent on Friday, the National Deputy President of the TUC, Tommy Etim, noted that no committee had been set up following the President’s promises.

“I can tell you that there has been no framework towards the implementation of the policies. No committee has me
