He left Marlian Records with zero account, was being threatened, and lived in fear till he died” Mohbad’s wife, Omawunmi speaks

Omawunmi, the widowed wife of the late promising singer  Ileriouluwa Oladimeji Aloba well known as Mohbad, has continued to speak out on how late husband’s ordeal with his former label boss, Naira Marley.

During the Coroner’s Inquest, she revealed that she never knew Naira Marley until Mohbad started talking about him and he became popular. She claimed that she warned him against signing with Naira Marley and to only feature him in a song, but he refused.

According to her, things took a downward spiral when he wanted to leave the label and asked for a change in manager from Naira Marley’s cousin, Tunde to another, which the label declined.

She revealed that he started receiving threats from them and by 2022, when he left the label, he wasn’t stable again.

Omawunmi claimed that he left with zero money in his account and he started struggling to start again and was living off his colleague, Bella Shmurda, who fed them for three months.

The mother of one also disclosed how the late singer tried all means to reach out to some artists but they never responded except Bella and Olamide.

“One day he told me that Naira Marley sent him a message on Instagram to come see him. I advised him to only feature Naira Marley on one song, and not sign a record deal with him but Mohbad said signing would help his career,” Wunmi testified.

Mohbad wanted to change him because he wasn’t doing anything. However, Naira Marley said they are the ones who will choose his manager.

“He started receiving different thr£ats from his oppre§§or and by 2022, when he left the label, he wasn’t stable again. He left with zero accounts. He didn’t have anything to start again and he started struggling to survive. Bella Shmurda fed us for three months when the issue happened as things were hard,” Wunmi said.

This shocking revelation counter the claims a Nigerian man made after encountering Naira Marley at an event and challenged him over the video of Sam Larry bullying the late singer.

He said Naira told him that he wasn’t involved in it as Sam Larry and Mohbad were very close and his wife was aware of his activities as she had control over him.

He claimed Naira said he never met Mohbad after he left his label and never sent any death threats which Omowunmi, Mohbad’s wife can attest to.

He further added that Wunmi has a lot to answer over his death and his deceased’s father is powerless.

Also during  the coroner’s inquest,Omawumi disclosed that her husband had begun experiencing discomfort after receiving an injection administered by a nurse, which led to him vomiting.

In her testimony, Omawumi also shed light on a prior altercation that Mohbad had with his friend, Prime Boy, which ultimately played a role in the events leading up to his passing. She revealed that Mohbad had suffered a minor injury during a fight with Prime Boy in Ikorodu on Sunday, September 10, 2023.
