Court grants Cubana Chief Priest N10million bail

Nigerian businessman, Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu well known as Cubana Chief Priest has been granted N10M million bail.

It was updated hours ago that EFCC had arraigned the businessman over Naira abuse. Channel Television reported that EFCC had filed a three-count charge against the businessman for allegedly spraying and tampering with the naira at a social event contrary to the provisions of the Central Bank Act of 2007.

The businessman had arrived before Justice Kehinde Ogundare of the Federal High Court, Lagos on Wednesday morning, April 17th, 2024, and had pleaded not guilty to the charges of naira abuse. While being arraigned in court this morning, his counsel, Chukwusolo Onukwi opposed the charges filed against him by the EFCC. He had also filed a bail application which has been granted by the judge.

The judge had granted him bail.

Two weeks back, EFCC arrested popular crossdresser, Bobrisky over abuse of the Naira which he pleaded guilty to, and had pleaded with the judge to give him another chance, promising to make good use of his platform to inform and educate his followers about spraying money.

Unfortunately, the judge didn’t excuse his bad behavior.

Last week, the crossdresser was sentenced to jail for 6 months without an option of a fine over Naira abuse.

In 2022, EFCC arrested Cubana Chief Priest on cases related to money laundering and tax fraud.

The socialite was in their custody for days and had even spent his birthday in their custody. However, he was released on Monday, April 4th, 2022 to the cheers of his fans, followers, friends, colleagues, and lovers.

The news of his freedom was made known by his colleague, Soso Soberekon who shared a photo of himself and Okechukwu on his verified Instagram page, hailing him for being trusted and tested.

Davido was one of the many celebrities who rejoiced with him, as he described him as his best friend.

Cubana’s arrest came months after his associate and long-time friend, Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, was arrested by EFCC operatives over a case of alleged money laundering and tax fraud.
