In a statement read by its National Coordinator , Comrade Yinka Dallas, fkanked by the National Leaders of the organization, the group said there is light at the end of the tunnel for all Nigerians, hence, we should be patient with and supportive of the programs and policies enshrined in the renewed hope agenda of the present administration, particularly the ongoing reforms in the Poith midas touch, Alh. Abdulwaheed Adebayo Adelabu as the minister to lead the revamping mission of the power sector”.

“We’ve scruntinilly followed many novel steps the Honourable Minister had taken towards enhancing power supply, most especially solving the liquidity squeezing and infrastructural deficit in the sector, and we are proud to say the Ministry is in a far better directions now than in the time past”.

“Nigerians will agree with us that solving a perennial problem like that of the national power project is a journey. And rising from the Retreat of December 2023, many initiatives have been taken to conquer the dreaded hurdles to power generation, transmission and distribution”.

Among these efforts which are in the incubation levels are reorientation on consumption management, bringing some level of lost transparency in the sector, regulation on estimated billing, putting finishing touches to Zungeru power plant, intensify on issue of metering with the inauguration of the presidential metering initiatives, generating a cocksure assurance from Genco to achieve generated energy of 6,000MW, and above all, the increase in band A tariffs which was evolved to address the non payment of required subsidy in the sector”, the group stated

The group further stated that “Contrary to the earlier opinion of some people about the electricity tariff band regime. This is the most brilliant idea. We all agreed that we needed to do things differently if we must conquer the dreaded problem of epileptic power supply. And the only class of people affected by the new tariff now are those already in band A. If you are not in band A, the new tariff did not affect you. So, Nigerians should let us give this initiative a chance to work”.

“This is where the smartness of this idea is. Now, the GENCO, TRC and DISCO will have to work hard to improve electricity and migrate as many consumers as possible to band A. That’s the reward for them”.

“Surely, this is a win-win situation. If you have 20 hours of electricity now, compare how much it would cost to run generator for 20 hours a day. The good news is that you will be on a prepaid meter. You can choose how and what to use the electricity for. We have used diesel, petrol, and now on solar, and we can tell you for free that the cheapest power supply is Disco even at N300/kwh. Let’s not be emotional. Let us be proactive in our views. We are on the right path to improving electricity supply. Also, note that the band system has been into play long before now. We have been paying different tariffs before now”, the group pleaded.

The leadership of the group concluded by promising to visit each and all the geopolitical zones in the country on this patriotic public sensitization awareness campaign, through a technical support being provided by their National backer, Comrade Kamar Abioye of Kam Abioye Nig Limited, an Estate Developer.
