Seyi Makinde, Oyo APC Mourn Late Rep Member,Akinremi

Governor Makinde, expressed shock over the death of the member representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Olaide Akinremi, popularly known as Jagaban.

The governor, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Suleiman Olanrewaju, in Ibadan, the state capital, described the death as shocking and unexpected, adding that Akinremi was a lawmaker one could vouch for as having an interest in the development of the state and Nigeria.

Makinde stated this at the Ibadan Airport where he also met with the House of Representatives delegation on the death of the lawmaker.

Also, the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress described the news of Akinremi’s demise as a great loss to the party, Ibadanland and Nigeria as a whole.

Makinde prayed to God to grant the deceased’s family and the state, the strength to bear the sad loss, saying, “It is unexpected. He was one of the representatives of the state in Abuja and you could vouch for his interest for the development of this state.

“We were constantly talking, though we belong to different political party affiliations. I can only pray for the family for strength and for all of us to be able to bear this loss.”

The state APC, in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Adewale Sadare said, “Oyo APC said that Akinremi’s death happened at a time he was needed most by his constituents, the National Assembly and the human society as a whole.

“Prince Akinremi’s demise is a death too many as he means so much to our great party even in death. It was he who redefined representation at the National Assembly to give relief and hope to the people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency. He was the face of responsible and responsive leadership with many achievements on his record.

“The Isaac Omodewu-led State Executive Committee as well as the entire members and supporters of the APC have lost a wonderful party man and a colourful politician who left an indelible footprint on the sands of time.”

The state APC noted that the vacuum left behind by the deceased would be “extremely difficult to fill but we find solace in the legacy of kindness, philanthropy and service to the people which he was able to implant on the surface of the earth.”
