Troops Eliminate Notorious Sokoto Terror Kingpin, Yellow Danbokkolo

The operation, codenamed Fasan Yamma, was carried out over the course of a week by troops in collaboration with Hybrid Forces, air components, and other security agencies, following credible intelligence reports on the movement of fleeing bandits and insurgents.

According to a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, Danbokkolo sustained critical gunshot wounds during a fierce encounter with troops and later died from the injuries on Monday.

“Yellow Danbokkolo, who had for years terrorised communities in Eastern Sokoto, was fatally wounded during a confrontation with our troops and died shortly after,” Kangye stated.

The late terrorist was reportedly more feared than the infamous bandit leader, Bello Turji. He is said to have masterminded the horrific December 2021 attack in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where dozens of travellers were burnt alive.

Military sources also disclosed that Danbokkolo was known to depend on constant doses of the drug pentazocine to maintain his brutal reign and violent activities.

Meanwhile, troops have intensified efforts to track down Bello Turji, who is believed to have gone into hiding.

Major General Kangye reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to eradicating terrorism and restoring peace across the nation, calling on Nigerians to support ongoing military operations through timely and accurate information.
