Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has urged the Muslim Ummah to always imbibe the spirit of humility, kindness and forgiveness, while also abiding by the doctrines and lessons taught by the Holy Quran beyond the Ramadan period.
The Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdulraheem Bayo Lawal, spoke on behalf of the governor on Friday, after he (Lawal) led the Muslim faithful comprising clerics, and political office holders at the federal, state and local government levels on a sallah homage to the governor’s residence.
Addressing the Muslim Ummah after they were received by the Wife of the Governor, Engr (Mrs) Tamunominini Makinde, shortly after the Eid-el-Fitri prayers at the Eid Ground, Agodi, Ibadan, the governor congratulated the Muslim Ummah on witnessing the end of Ramadan and the 2026 Eid-el-Fitri.
He appreciated their support over the years and lauded their patriotism, prayers and commitment to the state, noting that the peace, stability and tranquility being witnessed in the state had culminated into all-round development and harmonious coexistence among residents of the state.
The governor equally appreciated all the residents of the state, who made it possible for the government to record unprecedented achievements in the state, urging them to continue to support the administration till its last day in office.
Special prayers were later offered for Governor Makinde and the success of his administration, the state and the nation at large.
The delegation led by the Deputy Governor included a former Deputy Governor of Oyo State and PDP National Secretary, Amb. Taofeek Arapaja; member representing Ibadan North-West/South-West Federal Constituency, Hon Dikrullahi Stanley Olajide (Odidi Omo); Secretary to the State Government, Prof Musibau Babatunde; commissioners, chairmen of boards and parastatals; chairmen of local government areas and other top government functionaries.
