Olubadan Ladoja Cautions Politicians Against Using Religion for Electoral Gains

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has cautioned politicians and stakeholders against exploiting religion for political mobilisation as the country approaches another election cycle.
Speaking during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations at his Bodija residence in Ibadan, the monarch stressed the need for Nigerians to rise above religious divisions, noting that modern democracy should not be driven by sectarian interests.
He maintained that religion should not play a role in politics, adding that people from diverse backgrounds can work together for the common good without resorting to divisive sentiments.

On security concerns, particularly cases of kidnapping in parts of Oyo State, Oba Ladoja acknowledged the challenges but assured residents that the situation is being addressed. He explained that some of the reported incidents were criminal acts aimed at extorting money rather than organised terrorism.

Citing a recent incident along the Oluyole axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the monarch disclosed that security agencies had arrested three suspects and rescued two victims, describing the development as a sign of progress in tackling crime.
However, he identified land grabbing as a more serious threat to the socio-economic development of Ibadan, warning that it could discourage investment and hinder growth.
The traditional ruler assured that the traditional institution, in collaboration with government authorities, is taking steps to curb the menace while strengthening local security through vigilante groups and community structures.
He added that efforts are ongoing to revitalise traditional systems in Ibadanland to maintain order and ensure the safety of residents
