Yusuf Buhari Clinches APC Reps Ticket in Katsina, Defeats Daura’s Son.

Yusuf Muhammadu Buhari, son of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’Adua Federal Constituency seat after defeating Auwal Lawal Musa, son of former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Musa Daura.

The APC primary election, held across the constituency in Katsina State, was conducted peacefully under the supervision of the party’s electoral committee and local stakeholders.

Announcing the outcome of the exercise, the Returning Officer, Hon. Lawal Garba, said the primary followed the party’s constitutional provisions and established electoral guidelines.

According to the results released by the committee, the constituency had 35,825 registered voters, out of which 18,263 members were accredited, while 17,832 votes were cast during the exercise.

In Daura Local Government Area, Yusuf Buhari secured 6,386 votes from 6,708 valid ballots, while Auwal Lawal Musa polled 322 votes.

The former president’s son also recorded victory in Mai’Adua Local Government, where he garnered 5,102 votes against 137 votes scored by his opponent.

In Sandamu Local Government Area, Yusuf polled 5,849 votes, while Auwal received 21 votes.

At the conclusion of the collation process, Yusuf Muhammadu Buhari was declared winner of the APC primary election with a total of 17,342 votes, defeating Auwal Lawal Musa, who polled 480 votes across the three local government areas.

Party stakeholders commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise, describing it as a reflection of the APC’s commitment to internal democracy.

The primary election was conducted through the direct primary system in line with the Electoral Act and the party’s guidelines in constituencies where consensus arrangements were not achieved.
