Former federal lawmaker and Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) senatorial flagbearer, Hon. Shina Peller, has hosted a high-level strategic retreat with all APM candidates and party executives across the Oyo North Senatorial District to align campaign structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The critical convergence, held in Iseyin, brought together House of Representatives candidates, State Assembly contenders, local government party chairmen, and youth and women leaders from across the 13 local government areas of the Oke-Ogun and Ogbomoso zones. The session was specifically designed to synchronize grassroots campaign strategies and build a unified front before the upcoming electoral cycle.
Addressing the delegates, Peller, who holds the traditional title of Ayedero of Yorubaland, emphasized that the 2027 election presents a historic opportunity for Oyo North to secure vibrant, accountable, and result-driven representation at the National Assembly. He urged party stakeholders to ditch traditional campaign methods in favor of a deeply rooted, voter-centric approach.
“What we are building across Oyo North is not merely an electoral platform; it is a popular movement for genuine development and inclusive governance,” Peller declared. “To deliver real progress for our people, every candidate, from the State House of Assembly to the Senate, must operate in complete harmony. Our strength lies in our collective structure, our shared vision, and our unwavering commitment to the grassroots.”
A central focus of the session was the establishment of a synchronized operational framework. This framework ensures seamless coordination between Peller’s senatorial campaign and the mobilization efforts of candidates across federal and state constituencies, preventing fragmented field operations.
The former lawmaker, who represented the Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency between 2019 and 2023, reiterated his commitment to leveraging his legislative experience to champion agricultural modernization, youth empowerment, and infrastructure. He noted that despite the district’s status as the agricultural heartland of Oyo State, it heavily lacks the proactive federal advocacy needed to unlock its full potential.
Political analysts view this early consolidation as a major strategic maneuver in Oyo North. With the incumbent Senator, Abdulfatai Buhari, reportedly stepping aside from the senatorial race to pursue his executive governorship ambitions, the district’s legislative seat has thrown up heightened political interests. Peller’s proactive alignment positions the APM as a highly organized and formidable contender in the region.
The high-powered session concluded with the formal adoption of an election blueprint focused heavily on youth and women outreach, strict polling unit protection, and continuous consultation with traditional rulers and community leaders.
