Makinde appoints Akinwande chairman, Water Corporation

Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has appointed a former Member representing Atiba/Oyo East/Oyo West/Afijio Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. (Dr.) Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, as the Chairman, Oyo State Water Corporation.


The appointment was conveyed through a letter signed the Secretary to the State to the Government, Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun, dated July 6, 2022.


A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Makinde, Taiwo Adisa, quoted the governor as congratulating Hon. Akinwande on his appointment, urging him to discharge his duties to the State with dedication, loyalty and commitment.


Hon. Akinwande represented Oyo Federal Constituency between 2002 and 2007, serving as Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Public Petitions as well as member of the House Committees on Judiciary, Agriculture and Rural Development.


The newly appointed Water Corporation Chairman had also served in different capacities within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).


He was the Oyo East National Delegate to the May 2022 and October 2021 National Convention of the party, having also served Oyo State Deputy Coordinator, PDP Presidential Campaign Organization for the 2015 general election and as Acting PDP National Ex-Officio in 2014, among others.
Akinwande holds a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan and also a certificate of registration with the Veterinary Council of Nigeria.
He has a work experience that cuts across the fields of Veterinary Medicine and Agricultural Consultancy Services.
