2023 Budget will speak the voices of the People – Oyo SSG

The Secretary to the Oyo state government, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun, on Monday, declared that the year 2023 budget will speak the voices of the people in the State.

She stated this while addressing the people at the Stakeholders Consultative Engagement Meeting on Year 2023 Budget for Oyo State held at Akinyele Local Government Secretariat, Moniya.

Speaking further, She explained that the budget preparation for each year has been a bottom-to-top approach system since the inception of the Governor Seyi Makinde’s led administration.

While saying that the present administration has proven that the voices of the people matter largely in the budget preparation, she noted that the current administration has recorded notable achievements in different sectors.

She, however, concluded that with the support of the people and their prayers for Governor Seyi Makinde, his administration will continue to put the people first.

In his remarks, the Honourable Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Professor Musibau Babatunde, noted that planning is necessary for everything, and budget inclusive, adding that
government will not do anything outside of the budget.

He said: “This is why the government has taken it upon itself to move round the 7 political zones of the State; to ask for the needs of the people so that the year 2023 can be planned in this regard.”

He assured the people not to withhold their support for this administration as all the promises yet to be fulfilled will still be fulfilled.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Planning, Tpl Ajibola Ademola, commended the people for their support so for this administration so far, adding that the government cannot do it alone.

“Government cannot do everything alone and that is why we have come to meet you to ask for what you need. The year 2023 budget is a budget of transparency and reliability,” He noted.

He assured the people that their requests will be adequately represented in the budget come 2023.

The Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon. Taoheed Jimoh Adedigba, also the host Chairman, appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde’s government for its notable achievements in Akinyele Local Government which includes the re-construction of Sasa Market, reconstruction of Moniya/Iseyin road, siting of Amotekun Corps office under Akinyele Local Government and a host of other achievements in the Local Government area.

He, therefore, urged the government to let the year 2023 budget be in favour of greater developmental projects across the State, with specific attention to the reconstruction of Ojoo-Oritanerin-Igbooloyin road, Onikainkain bridge and other projects in need of government’s attention in the local government area.

Speaking on behalf of the Royal Fathers across the 6 Local Government under Ibadan Greater City, the Alakinyele of Akinyele, Oba James Oluyemi appreciated the government for its achievements in all the 6 Local Governments, adding that the street light project be extended from Akinyele to Onidundun, Iroko and Fiditi.

He added that Ijaye has been without electricity for about 9years now and the government should please look into this.

The meeting was attended by relevant Stakeholders from the 6 Local governments under Ibadan Greater Cities which include Akinyele Local Government, Egbeda, Ona-Ara, Ido, Lagelu, and Oluyole Local Government.
