Oyo govt empowers women with household and commercial equipment in 33LGs

Oyo state government on Wednesday has rolled out the first phase of an intervention scheme to empower at least fifty women in each local government areas of the state to ensure self reliance and boost their livelihood.

The empowerment initiative faciliated by the state ministry of women affairs and social inclusion in collaboration with the federal ministry of women affairs was flagged off at the Lekan Salami sport complex, Adamasingba.

The Wife of Oyo state Governor, Mrs Olufunke Tamonominini Makinde symbolically presenting household and commercial equipment to the beneficiaries, encouraged them to utilize the items to enhance their finance, support their families and contribute to the economic development of the state.

While enumerating some of the items distributed to include, gas cylinders, driers, sewing machines, freezers amongst others, Mrs Makinde appealed to the beneficiaries not to sell off the equipment but use it for personal benefit.

Earlier in their various remarks, the commissioner for women affairs and social inclusion, Alhaja Kafilat Olayiwola and permanent secretary of the ministry Mrs Grace Oderinde noted that the current administration would always prioritize the welfare and concern of the people particularly women in the state, calling for collaboration and support from the women in achieving the objectives of governance.
