Nigerian Lawyer, Bolanle Raheem, Shot Dead By A Police Officer On Christmas Day

A Nigerian lawyer, Bolanle Raheem, has unfortunately been shot and killed by a policeman attached to the Ajah Police State in Lagos on Christmas day, December 25.

The deceased and her family were coming from a restaurant in their car around 11am when the policeman tried to stop them.

Eyewitnesses said the deceased was trying to make a U-turn under Ajah Bridge when the officer opened fire at her car. Sadly, the bullet hit the deceased and she was rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A colleague of the deceased, identified as KC Uzoka, took to Twitter to call the attention of the Nigerian police to the tragic incident.

He tweeted:

“One of your officers attached to Ajiwe police Division Ajah, shot at point blank & murdered a lawyer colleague of mine today. This is one too many similar incidents with police officers in Ajiwe. Now a family has lost a dear one on Christmas day.”

Reacting, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident adding that the officer involved in the shooting has been arrested.

“Unfortunate and avoidable incident that was. The ASP that shot and two others with him have since been taken into custody. They are to be moved to the SCID for further investigation,” he responded.
