The Executive chairman of Akinyele local Government, Hon Akinwole Akinleye has appealed to protesters to shun violence and protest peacefully to avert chaos as they embark on the proposed nation wide protests

In a statement made available to the public through his Media Aide, Ogundipe Miracle, Hon Akinwole Akinleye called for calm and urged protesters to be careful to avoid the process been hijacked by hoodlums to avoid the repeat of past violent incidents.

“Dear Good people of Akinyele Local Government, in view of the proposed nationwide protest against hardship in the country, The protest is what I consider as a legitimate expression of your rights. An indication of the power of peaceful collective action in driving meaningful change. To however make headway in this cause, I want to implore you to be ambassadors of peace, not instigators of violence, by protesting peacefully and avoiding destructive actions that could harm fellow citizens or our state properties.”

“The anticipated protest if not well conducted could lead to violence and widespread disorder if hijacked by hoodlums as was witnessed in recent protests . The devastating effect of anarchy and chaos is better imagined than experienced. Therefore, I appeal to the organizers of the planned protest and meaningful citizens to exercise great restraint against any action that can lead to anarchy, war and chaos. Let’s be peace loving and law abiding citizens as peaceful protest is one of the fundamental rights that we have as a Nigerian.”

“I can also assure you that security operatives through their coordinated approach will be fully on ground to maintain peace and order and also to protect lives and properties. It is our prayer that God Almighty will touch the heart of our leaders to listen to the yearnings of Nigerians and find lasting solutions to the myriad of challenges confronting our dear Nation”.

The Executive Chairman also appealed to stakeholders, parents and guardians to carefully monitor their children and wards during the period of the protest.
