Burna Boy Debunks Voodoo Claims Linked to His Unshaved Armpits

Grammy-winning Afrobeats star, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has dismissed widespread claims that his unshaved armpits are tied to voodoo powers.

Speaking in a recent interview with Apple Music, the singer described the notion as both “hilarious” and “ridiculous.”

Photos of Burna Boy with visible unshaved armpits have, in the past, sparked social media reactions, with some Nigerians alleging that the source of his success lies in his body hair.

Reacting, the “African Giant” crooner said:

“One misconception is that I don’t like shaving my armpits. People think it’s like Samson in the Bible, that my power is in my hair. Some even claim my armpit is where my power is, like it’s some voodoo thing. I don’t even know how to explain it—it’s just dumb sh*t.

He clarified that his choice is simply personal preference, not tied to any superstition.
