A bizarre incident happened on August 29, 2024, at the premises of Dutse Divisional Police Headquarters, Jigawa State, when a 32-year-man, identified as Bashir Umar, lured an eight-year-old girl into a restroom, where he tortured and sexually assaulted her.

The spokesman of the Jigawa Police Command, DSP Lawan Adam, who confirmed the incident via a statement on Sunday morning, disclosed that Umar is from Galamawa town, Dutse Local Government Area of the state.

“Thereafter, the perpetrator exploited the girl’s vulnerability, offering her N150 and threatening to harm her and her parents if she disclosed the sexual abuse to anyone,” he said.

Adam said Umar continued to terrorize and sexually assault the helpless girl using the same technique and silencing her with threats whenever he encountered her on her way to school.

He added, “Following the sexual trauma, the victim suffered severe physical consequences, including urinary and stool-related complications.

“The survivor is currently at Rashid Shekoni Teaching Hospital, Dutse, where she was admitted and receiving treatment.
