Ekiti government sue pastor, Jeremiah Adegoke on behalf of chef Dammy, demand 10 million

The Directorate of Citizens Rights of the Ministry of Justice in Ekiti State has filed a lawsuit on behalf of Damilola Adeparusi, popularly referred to as Chef Dammy against her pastor, Jeremiah Adegoke and the Ekiti State Police Command for alleged infringement of her right.

The DCR also included that they are seeking a 10 million compensation for damages on behalf of the chef who gained popularity after attempting the cook-a-thon challenge in June, in order to break the Guinness World Record for longest cooking hours.

Jeremiah Adegoke, who is the head pastor of Spirit Word Global Mission reportedly sponsored, Chef Dammy while she was engaging in the cooking competition.

It all started after Chef Dammy shared a critic post on her Instagram page, also adding that if anything happens to her, Jeremiah Adegoke should be held responsible.

The pastor however sued chef Dammy, demanding a retraction of the alleged defamatory statement, an apology on two widely read national dailies and payment of a sum of 22million for damages.

None of these was done as chef Dammy went ahead to sue him back, which lead to the police inviting her for question last week.

In the lawsuit filed by DCR on 24th of November, Chef Dammy was named as the applicant, while Adegoke and Ajewole Samuel, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, and the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 17 Akure, were named respondents.

The lawsuit pursues a statement that the continued harassment, molestation, threat of arrest and intimidation by the pastor and Nigerian police, infringes on the chef’s fundamental human rights.
