Governor Makinde’s brother for burial Friday

Engr. Olufunmilayo Sunday Makinde, the deceased oldest brother of Oyo State governor, will be buried on Friday, the family has announced.


The family, in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday indicated that the funeral events will begin on Thursday with a Service of Songs, while the interment will take place on Friday.


A reception will come up after the interment, while a thanksgiving service will be held at the St Peter’s Cathedral, Aremo, Ibadan, on Sunday.


The statement read: “With total submission to the will of God, the Makinde Family of Aigbofa Compound, Oja’ba, Ibadan, announces the passing of our father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin, Engr Olufunmilayo Sunday Makinde, aged 65 years, who joined the Saints Triumphant on Friday, January 24, 2025.


“Funeral arrangements are as follows: On Thursday, 6th February, 2025, there will be a Service of Songs at the Remembrance Arcade, Ibadan by 5 p.m.


“On Friday, 7th February, 2025, a Funeral Service will be held at the Bishop Akinyele Memorial Anglican Church, Iwo Road, Ibadan by 10 a.m. (strictly by invitation), while the interment, to be attended by family members only, will take place at the Eternal Home, Km 25, lbadan-Oyo Road.
“Reception is to follow at the Ibadan Recreation Club, Adamasingba, lbadan.
“On Sunday, 9th February, 2025, a Funeral Thanksgiving Service will be held at the Cathedral of St Peters, Aremo, lbadan by 10 a.m.”
