GROUND RENTS PAYMENT, WE WILL NOT SUCCUMB TO BLACKMAIL: AKINYELE MUST CONTINUE TO PROGRESS*

The attention of the Executive Chairman Akinyele LG Hon. Akinwole Akinleye has been drawn to a malicious social media post by a group of people alleged aides to previous administration.

These group of individuals who claimed to have received lands belonging to AKINYELE LG as “gifts” from previous administration without any documentation or payments to the coffers of the Local Government.

The Executive Chairman has vowed that he will not play politics with the development of the Local Government and has therefore urged anyone who is in custody of Akinyele property without due process to proceed to ensure due process are followed in acquisition of such properties.

Ground rents are lawful means of Internal Revenue for the Local Government and the Council will continue to exercise legitimate rights in collecting such revenue as stipulated by the law.

The Chairman urges all legitimate occupants of the Local Government lands and assets to exercise no fear as the Council will continue to protect them from aggressors.
