Nigerian singer, Harrison Tare Okiri, popularly known as Harrysong, has issued a cease-and-desist letter to his estranged wife, Alexer Peres, following allegations of emotional abuse made against him.
The legal notice, which was shared by Alexer via her Instagram story, reportedly demands a public retraction and apology within 14 days or the payment of N1 billion in damages for defamation.
According to the letter, issued through the singer’s legal representatives, failure to comply with the demand would result in legal action, including claims for monetary damages and other equitable relief.
Reacting publicly, Alexer accused the singer of attempting to control the narrative through third parties while avoiding direct engagement on his own platforms. She alleged that Harrysong had been using friends and relatives to spread falsehoods as part of what she described as damage control.
“Sending your friends and sisters to post lies as damage control, hiding behind the camera… yet you still brought another letter, suing me for N1 billion if I don’t apologise within 14 days,” she wrote.
The development comes a day after Alexer announced her decision to temporarily relinquish custody of their two children. In an emotional video, she described the move as the most difficult decision of her life, citing prolonged emotional strain following her separation from the singer. She accused Harrysong of persistent harassment and alleged that he often appeared at her residence unannounced.
In response to the claims, Harrysong stated that he had chosen to remain silent in order to protect the mother of his children and, more importantly, the children themselves. He described himself as a responsible and present father, adding that he has continued to cater for their needs.
The singer further noted that the allegations against him were deeply hurtful and could damage the public image and career that provides for his children.
In a subsequent post, Alexer accused Harrysong of manipulating situations involving their children and vowed that she would no longer remain silent, declaring her intention to fight for their welfare.
Alexer had earlier hinted at the end of her marriage to the singer in early 2024, a decision she later confirmed, describing herself as a free woman.
The past year has been particularly challenging for Alexer, whose troubled marriage reportedly led to the loss of her third pregnancy. Harrysong had previously accused her of infidelity during their marriage, an allegation she has not publicly addressed in detail.
