Nollywood actress Peggy Ovire has seemingly responded to remarks by her husband, Frederick Leonard, about finding happiness.
Leonard had, while marking his birthday, stated that he had “come into his own,” discovered something new, and was now happier than ever — a comment that sparked reactions online.
In what appears to be a subtle response, Ovire took to social media to express gratitude to God while affirming her self-worth.
“God did it. I choose me!” she wrote.
Replying to a fan who advised her to give credit solely to God, the actress maintained that her peace and life had been restored by divine intervention.
“God restored my peace, my life. My brother, God did it,” she added.
The development comes amid growing speculation about a strain in the couple’s marriage.
In recent weeks, Ovire had stirred conversations online after posing a pointed question about how women would react if their partner was involved with a married woman with children, while still judging single women for similar actions.
Observers have also pointed to past incidents that fueled rumours of tension between the pair. In 2025, Leonard drew criticism for not publicly celebrating Ovire on her birthday, while the actress later raised eyebrows after sharing Christmas photos without her husband.
Despite the speculation, Leonard had previously dismissed reports of a marital crisis, warning bloggers against spreading false claims. He insisted that their relationship is private and not subject to public scrutiny, stressing that marriage is not “slavery.”
The couple got married in a high-profile ceremony in Asaba, Delta State, on November 19, 2022. Since then, their union has remained under public watch, with recurring rumours of marital issues and alleged social media exchanges between them.
In 2024, Ovire also addressed concerns from fans after appearing in a video without her wedding ring, and pushed back against claims that she pressured Leonard into marriage, asserting her independence and self-worth.
