Veteran Nollywood actress, Ireti Doyle, has voiced her frustration over the growing toxicity on social media, describing it as unbearable for her “quiet soul.”
The award-winning actress made this known upon her return to Instagram after taking a month-long break from the platform. In her heartfelt post, Ireti revealed that she had always wondered what life would look like once she became an “empty nester,” only to realize that peace often meant stepping away from the chaos of online spaces.
“I used to wonder what I’d do with myself once I became an ‘empty nester’. Now I know. Had to disappear again. The streets of SM (nay, the world in general) are becoming too toxic for my quiet soul,” she wrote, adding a message of concern for her fans: “How have you been? I hope you’re protecting yourself.”
This isn’t the first time the actress has used social media to reflect on her personal and professional journey. During her previous online appearance, Ireti shared a throwback photo from her early days in Nollywood, describing her acting career as “diverse and colourful.”
In early 2023, the screen star recounted a near-death experience with carbon monoxide poisoning, where she was found unconscious in her car. She credited divine intervention for saving her life.
Despite past discussions about her marriage, Ireti clarified last year that she continues to bear her husband’s surname because “Ireti Doyle” has become a part of her identity — a name nearly three decades in the making.
