INEC suspends collation of Bayelsa Guber result as agents of Political parties clash

The Independent National Electoral Commission has suspended collation as agents of the Accord Party and the All Progressives Congress on Monday clashed during the collation of the Bayelsa State Governorship election.

The two agents had an altercation, which resulted in a physical fight at the collation centre in Yenagoa, the state capital, on Monday.

Efforts by the state Returning Officer, Prof Faruq Kuta, to quell the fight proved abortive as the duo created a scene at the centre.

However, after a few minutes, police operatives wadded into the matter and restored law and order to continue the collation exercise.

The development came after the Returning Officer announced the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Timipre Sylva, winner of Brass Local Government Area of the state.
