Nigerian media personality, Toke Makinwa, has opened up on how becoming a mother has brought healing to long-buried emotional scars.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the first-time mum revealed that her daughter has been instrumental in helping her confront and overcome past childhood trauma and grief she thought she had moved past.
According to her, the arrival of her baby girl has unknowingly restored broken parts of her heart and filled voids she carried from childhood.
“My daughter brought me healing, she is daily healing parts of me I didn’t even know needed healing, healing from my childhood trauma, from grief I thought I had dealt with a long time ago. God knew I needed this,” she wrote.
In a heartfelt note to her newborn, Makinwa shared that her daughter has not only changed her status but also mended a pain she had lived with since the age of eight. She admitted she was already captivated by her baby’s eyes and learning so much from her.
It would be recalled that in August, the former On-Air Personality welcomed her first child, Yakira Eliana, at 40.
Marking her daughter’s one-month milestone, Makinwa described the journey into motherhood as unbelievable and expressed deep gratitude for being chosen as her mother, promising to always give her best.
She also spoke candidly about her breastfeeding experience, disclosing that drinking pap for two weeks had done little to boost her milk supply and instead added to her stress.
On her podcast, the media star became emotional as she recounted how she had prayed to become a mother at 40. She revealed that God answered her prayer, as she conceived just a month after celebrating the milestone birthday.
