…As Club Inducts Oyo Deputy Gov As Honorary Rotarian
Rotarian Oba Adéòye Gbenga Adigun, the Aare Alawo Ekun Ofiki of Ofiki Land, has been inaugurated as the 12th President of Rotary Club of Ibadan City Central.
The investiture which was held last week in Ibadan, had in attendance the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Abdulraheem Bayo Lawal who was inducted as honorary rotarian.
Two new members were also inducted at the event to mark the membership development month of the Rotary calendar worldwide. The inductees were Hon. Dr Ayoola Makanjuola Joe and Mr Bosun Afolayan.
Meanwhile, the deputy governor donated a plot of land for community projects of the club while Dr Mrs Oluwatoyin Alao Aderinto, 1st child of Otunba Alao Akala, donated 1 million naira to support the club project.
While speaking, Oba Adigun said he was elated to be installed as the 12th president of the club adding that he will continue to uphold the tenets of the club.
The traditional ruler enumerated some of the activities the club has embarked on for this rotary year and called on people to join the club and support the club with funds as partners.
His words: “Fellow Rotarians and guests, I feel so elated to be installed today 12th of August 2023 as the 12th President of Rotary Club of Ibadan City Central.”
“It’s not a mere coincidence that the theme of this rotary year is “Create Hope in the World” in similarity with the campaign slogan of the incumbent President of our dear nation tagged “Renewed Hope”.
“Fellow rotarians and guests, you will all agree with me that the way of life of every livingsoul worldwide has been inflicted by worries, depression, diseases and climate change effects, In the light of these disorders, the RI
President Gordon R. Mcinally carefully unveiled the rotary year theme for over 1.4M rotarians worldwide with special interests on -Prioritizing Mental health -Building Peace Through Virtual Exchanges -Girl Child Empowerment.
“We as rotary Club of Ibadan City Central absorbed sinc & hook the RI Presidential Initiatives and have proposed projects in the areas of focus of Rotary as reflected in the other page of this program brochure.”
“We immediately hit the ground running by the payment of the District dues on the first day of the new Rotary year probably the first club to do so in District 9125 and as well as the RI Dues payment of our 1st SAR invoice of the club.”
“Also, the board marked the month July with a project tagged Maternal and child health done at the Adeoyo State hospital Yemetu Ibadan. On this day 27th July, 2023, after distribution of various items including cash donations to support both the expectant mothers and children, a girl Child named Amira whose mother died 40 days after delivery but have medical challenges was adopted by the club to take care of her medical and other needs for a complete rotary year.”
“On this note, the board proposed “Project Amira fund” to the club members which was given express approval on 28th July 2023 during the fellowship. This project is our signature project to empower girl child with similar life experiences like Amira to give them Hope of existence.
“We also, join other rotary clubs in Ibadan to execute a joint project on “Keep Hepatitis Zero” to mark the World Hepatitis Day on the 28th July 2023 at Scout Camp Market Molete Ibadan where about 150 individuals were screened, vaccinated and lectured on Hepatitis effects in the body.”
“Dear guests of Rotary, this is rotary and that is what we do to have gained a permanent seat as the only observer NGO in the United Nation Assembly.”
“I therefore, call on all of you who now understand rotary to join us as a club and support us with your funds as partners to jointly create Hope in the World for this Rotary year and beyond.”
“I again, urge you all to donate generously and bountifully to support our club project proposal for the Rotary year.”
Rotarian Oba Adéòye said the Deputy Governor was inducted as honorary rotarian because of his passion for humanity, administrative sagacity and particularly his support to Rotary community development vision.
He added that the Deputy Governor demonstrated this by express grant and approval of a plot of land requested by the club for her community development initiatives in Ibadan.
In the same vein, some individual personalities were given awards to encourage them in their various commitments at impacting positively to society.
Among whom were Oba Dr Surv Khalid Olabisi Oyeniyi Oyedepo III, Okere of Saki Land, Prof. Adeolu Akande, Otunba Omoniyi Sunday Obiyinka mni, Otunba Mrs Ranti Koiki, Mrs Adegbola Mary CEO Tees Resort Saki, Princess Adeaga Oyebisi MD Honours Petroleum and others.
Present at the event were the Deputy Governor of Oyo state, Barrister Abdulraheem Bayo Lawal, Senator Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli (Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District), Oba Dr Surv Khalid Olabisi Oyeniyi Oyedepo III, Okere of Saki Land, Alepata of Igboho, Oba Joel Olalere Olawuwo, Onigege of Igege, Oba Kazeem Adio Orioye.
Also present were Otunba Omoniyi Sunday Obiyinka mni, MD CEO Extension Publications, Dr Mrs Oluwatoyin Alao Aderinto, 1st child of Otunba Alao Akala, Otunba Mrs Ranti Koiki, MD CEO Fawzy hotel Ibadan, Mrs Adenike Taiwo – Adeoje and host of all rotary clubs and rotaractors in Ibadan and neighboring states.
