Oyo APC guber aspirant , Adelabu scores gov Makinde low

Ex-CBN Deputy Governor, and All Progressive Congress ( APC) governorship aspirant , Chief Bayo Adelabu has scored the incumbent governor Seyi Makinde low , declaring that his sectoral performance in the last three years in the state is less than 10 percent.

Chief Adelabu accessment came on the heels of plans by the state government to celebrate third anniversary of governor Seyi Makinde government.

As a result of the seemingly stagnation , Chief Adelabu while promising to change the face of governance in the state, said it was obvious the people of Oyo state are already tired of the Governor and his government.

Adelabu who said he served as Chairman, Oyo state Security Trust Fund during the administration of late Sen Abiola Ajimobi lamented the growing insecurity through out the state .

Speaking at a press conference to herald the official declaration for governorship held at Jericho, Ibadan on Monday , Adelabu who was the APC governorship flagbearer in 2019 governorship election in the state berated the incumbent governor for using the prompt payment of salaries and pensions as yardstick to measure achievement.

Describing the current state of security in the state as appalling, the APC governorship aspirant explained that while serving as Chairman, Oyo state Security Trust Fund , there was peace and security during the past administration because all security agencies were adequately funded, patrol vehicles bought and serviced regularly to ensure security of lives and property, but sadly governor Makinde has thrown the entire state into terror, and violence.

” The present government has with it’s own hands, through greed and being neophytes in power, unleashed violence on the people of Oyo State through it’s halfhearted implementation of improving the parks system and transportation in Oyo State. Likewise will our eyes not be closed to external aggressors against the peace of the good people of Oyo State,” he said.

He declared that governor Makinde is not good enough for Oyo state , adding that “the pedigree of my forbears is to stare straight into the treacherous face of naked power and speak the truth to it unequivocally. The truth is simple. The truth is that the present is not good enough for the great people of Oyo State. The truth is that I Adebayo Adelabu has something far better to bring to governance for the good people of Oyo State.”

While analysing the performance of the incumbent governor Makinde , Chief Adelabu listed health, agriculture, environment, energy, transportation, water supply, education, and security , noting that governor Makinde has performed woefully in all the sectors in the last three years.

” In this context therefore, my gubernatorial ambition is intended to enrich politics with ethics, to mix the soil of knowledge and professional competence with water of experiences in the service of humanity within the Oyo State context in Nigeria and the interdependent world. I hope to give practical expressions to ideals of humanity in my Dear State as the Executive Governor come 2023 InshAllah.

” You will all recollect that I contested for the Governorship of Oyo State in 2019 and I lost the election under very controversial circumstances that almost heated up the polity of the state but for my love for peace and tranquility in Oyo State and in fact, Nigeria as a whole, I therefore decided to pursue the part of the Rule of Law instead of the Rule of Violence and Thuggery by approaching the courts and we pursued the matter up to the Supreme Court.

” That action was to clearly show that I am a man that abhor violence and thuggery. I vehemently abhor the dictates of a one man dictatorship. Myself and our great party wanted a land of peace in Oyo State just as our late leader, H.E Abiola Ajimobi abhorred violence and brought peace to bear in Oyo State for the eight years he governed the state. May his soul continue to rest in peace”, he said.

On internally generated revenue of the state, the APC governorship aspirant wondered why Oyo state with its huge potentials under governor Makinde could not generate enough revenue to make life meaningful for people of the state.

” Oyo state has the size of 28,454 km² , which is a combination of entire states of Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, and Abia . The problem is that they don’t know how to make money. I will make enough money to run the state because I spent my life on making money,” he stated.

Among prominent party chieftains present at the event are the APC factional Chairman, Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi , Senator Ayo Adeseun, ex-SSG Olalekan Ali , former state Chairman of state APC, Chief Akin Oke, represented by Chief Lekan Adeyemo, and former House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Gunju Ojo amongst others.

Adelabu further paid glowing tributes to past leaders of the party ( Alh. Lam Adesina, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi, and Otunba Adebayo Also Akala) and also prominent traditional rulers in the state ( Soun of Ogbomoso, Olubadan of Ibadanland, and Alaafin of Oyo ) for their tremendous contribution to his political career and mentorship.
