The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ) has described the late Publisher of the defunct Third Eye Newspaper , Chief Emmanuel Akanni Aluko as a staunch nationalist , who had a lofty dream for Nigeria.
Chief Aluko ,a business mogul and philanthropist per excellence, slept in death on Friday July 1,2022 at the Intensive Care Unit ( ICU) of the University College Hospital ( UCH), Ibadan after a protracted illness.
The deceased, Chief Aluko would have turned 79 on July 22, 2022.
In a statement by the Oyo state Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ) , Comrade Ismail Ademola Babalola in Ibadan on Tuesday , the NUJ Chairman recalled in the early days of the Third Eye Advertorials regularly published in national dailies, proffering practical solutions to myriads of challenges facing the nation, using his hard earned resources to finance the advertorials.
He noted that Chief Aluko throughout his lifetime was imbued with a sense of national consciousness ,and strongly identified with the ideals of an egalitarian society , a dream he vigorously pursued all his life for Nigeria.
According to him, Nigeria has lost a great patriot, philanthropist, and astute business man.
The number one journalist in the state further described Chief Aluko as a lover of God, a dogged fighter for justice, equity, and lover of the downtrodden.
” Baba’s demise is a big blow to journalists, and the profession. It was very devastating and hard to believe considering what Chief Aluko meant for the welfare of Journalists while alive, most especially his role as a great philanthropist of all season” , he said.
While expressing shock over the demise of the Publisher of the defunct Third Eye stables, Comrade Babalola explained that Chief Aluko’s love for journalists and the pen profession was great , stating that the late Aluko would be remembered for his unequal passion for the welfare of Journalists in the country.
While commiserating with the family of the deceased, Comrade Babalola stated that the vacuum that his death had created would be difficult to fill.
He prayed for the repose of his soul.
