Oyo Workers Closedown Secretariat Gate Over Palliative And Unpaid Allowances

Workers in the employ of the Oyo State government have locked down the state secretariat entrance, insisting on speaking with Governor Seyi Makinde over myriads of issues affecting their interest in the state.

One of the issues, they said, is the arbitrary deductions from their salaries. Another is the governor’s failure to provide palliatives to the workers.

Participating in the protest are workers and pensioners from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) and other affiliates.

Their union leaders and workers are also demanding payment of leave bonuses, gratuities to retirees who have stagnated since the year 2021and release of promotion letters for the years 2021 and 2022.

No government official has addressed the protesting workers at of time of this report.
