President Tinubu Presides Over Federal Executive Council Meeting After Two-Month Break.

President Bola Tinubu is presiding over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the State House in Abuja, marking his first council meeting since June 29, 2026.

President Bola Tinubu is presiding over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the State House in Abuja, marking his first council meeting since June 29, 2026.

The meeting commenced with the national anthem shortly after Tinubu arrived at the Council Chamber at about 2:30 p.m.

Among those attending the meeting are the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Didi Walson-Jack; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; ministers, presidential aides and heads of government agencies.

The council observed a minute of silence in honour of Abubakar Alhaji, a former Minister of Finance under the administration of former President Ibrahim Babangida, who died on July 30, 2026.

Members of the council also paid tribute to Prof Turner Isoun, a former Minister of Science and Technology under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who died on July 15, 2026.
At its last meeting on June 29, following a break of more than two months, the council witnessed the swearing-in of two new Federal Commissioners representing Bauchi and Kaduna states on the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

The appointees, Amina Gamawa and Abdullahi Mukhtar, respectively, were sworn in shortly before the commencement of the council meeting.

The ongoing meeting is expected to consider matters of national importance and key policy issues requiring the attention of the Federal Government.
