Queen Rashidat Ladoja Receives Women of Impact Award.

Wife of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Queen (Barr) Rashidat Olayinka Ladoja, has been honoured with the Women of Impact Award at the 8th edition of the Justice Aderemi Annual Lecture Series, JAALS Foundation Awards in recognition of her contributions to humanitarian service, legal profession, and empowerment of women in the Society.

The event with the theme”Women and the Ballot: Strengthening Women’s Representation in Nigerian Politics”, was held at Aare Afe Babalola Bar Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Queen Rashidat Ladoja, who was represented at the Ceremony by Dr Adefunke Olaniyan expressed appreciation to the JAALS Foundation for the recognition, describing the honour as an encouragement to continue supporting initiatives that improve the lives of Women.

The Wife of Olubadan reaffirmed her resolve to continue to promote programmes that foster social development, compassion, and inclusive growth as well as gender equality.

While delivering Keynote Address, Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, encouraged Women to involve actively in politics, beginning from the grassroots, adding that, there should be no limitation to the level women could attain in politics.

Hon. Dabiri-Erewa said, women should support themselves, while urging the civil society organisations and the media to continue advocating for Women’s political participation.

She added that, mentorship for Women seeking public office would also help bridge the gender gap in the society, calling on the Women to mobilise themselves for better representation.

At the programme, Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa was also honoured with Award, along some other dignitaries from various Professions.

Earlier, the Director, JAALS Foundation, Dr Tolu Aderemi highlighted some of the achievements of the Foundation in supporting people, particularly the vulnerable groups with a view to giving them hope for a better life.

Some of the dignitaries present included, first female Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Folake Solanke, alongside other distinguished women who have made remarkable contributions to the Legal Profession, Governance, and National Development, among others.
