The Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye, has called on residents to promote unity, peaceful coexistence and spiritual reflection as Muslims and Christians commence the holy seasons of Ramadan and Lent.
In a goodwill message released on Wednesday through his Chief Media Aide, Ogundipe Miracle, the council boss congratulated Muslim faithful on the beginning of Ramadan, describing the period as one dedicated to devotion, discipline, charity and spiritual rejuvenation.
He noted that Ramadan offers an opportunity for believers to strengthen their relationship with Allah, imbibe patience and extend compassion to the less privileged.
Akinleye also extended his warm wishes to Christians observing the Lenten season, stating that Lent represents a solemn period of repentance, sacrifice, prayer and renewed commitment to God.
According to him, the simultaneous observance of Ramadan and Lent this year highlights the shared virtues common to both faiths, including love, humility, tolerance, selflessness and care for humanity.
“I pray that this sacred season brings abundant blessings, enduring peace and prosperity to every household in Akinyele Local Government. May the fasting and prayers of our Muslim brothers and sisters be accepted, and may the sacrifices and supplications of our Christian brethren usher in divine grace and spiritual renewal,” he stated.
The chairman further urged residents to use the period to pray for sustained peace, unity and development in Oyo State and the country at large. He encouraged citizens to strengthen communal harmony, support vulnerable members of society and uphold the spirit of togetherness that defines the people of Akinyele.
The statement concluded with prayers for continued religious tolerance within the council area and divine wisdom for leaders and citizens as they collectively pursue progress and prosperity.
