Residents Lament Works Commissioner’s Indifference to abandoned Olorunsogo-Akanran road, Chides GSM Aides

Some residents of Ibadan, Oyo State capital on Friday lamented the abandoned Olorunsogo-Akanran road in Ona Ara local government.

They chided the Commissioner for Works, Prof Dahud Kehinde Shangodoyin for his alleged indifference to the timely completion of the road, contrary to the plan of the State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde to have the road completed in record time.

According to Gbadebowale Falade, “the contractor handling this dual carriage way has removed equipments on the site.

“Everything they (contractors) have done, have been destroyed. The works they have done have been destroyed. A number of residents around here are asking “whether Prof Shangodoyin is frustrating the efforts of Seyi Makinde?”

Another landlord in the area, Femi Ayinde posited that, “our people are frustrated because of bad roads everywhere in Ibadan, not only on this particular Olorunsogo-Akanran road alone.

Speaking further, Ayinde said the Works Commissioner is not supervising the road at all, otherwise he ought to have counseled the contractor on the need to speed up and hasten the construction process.”

Agboola Muftaudeen alleged the contractor of some other aides of the Governor of dereliction of duty.

According to him, “it is only when Governor moves around that you would see Shangodoyin milling around him to supervise ongoing road networks and other infrastructures of the State Government.

“The moment the Governor is not around, governance in Oyo State becomes auto pilot.

“Most of the appointees are just ‘doing eye service’ to the Governor .

“Majority of them are on vacation each time the governor is not around and this is not good for the development of our State,” Agboola added.
