Rotary Club Ibadan-Akobo Launches Mental Health Initiative to Enhance Workplace Wellness

The Rotary Club Ibadan-Akobo has taken a significant step toward prioritising mental health in the workplace with an initiative aimed at promoting wellness among students and teachers.

The event, held at Estate High School in Bashorun Estate, Akobo, gathered students, teachers and Rotarians to discuss the importance of mental health.

The event featured esteemed guest speaker, Dr. Taiwo Okunade, a renowned mental health consultant.

Dr. Okunade emphasised the critical role that mental health plays in enhancing productivity and overall workplace satisfaction, while stressing it for organisations to recognise mental health as a vital component of employee wellbeing.

He highlighted various strategies for employers to create a supportive atmosphere that fosters mental well-being among employees.

Participants at the event were engaged in interactive sessions that highlighted common mental health challenges in the school environment explored effective coping mechanisms.

The Rotary Club aims to equip both employers and employees with the knowledge and tools necessary to address mental health issues proactively.

“The workplace can be a significant source of stress for many individuals. By prioritising mental health, we can enhance productivity and improve overall job satisfaction,” he stated.

According to him, the initiative marks a vital step in recognising the importance of mental health in the workplace, ultimately contributing to a healthier and more productive school environment.
