The Federal Government has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr celebration.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued through the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Magdalene Ajani.
In his message, the minister congratulated Muslim faithful across the country on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan, commending their devotion, discipline, and commitment to prayers throughout the fasting period.
He urged Nigerians to embrace and sustain the values associated with Ramadan, including love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice. He also called on citizens to use the festive period to pray for national unity, stability, and progress.

The Federal Government further advised Nigerians to celebrate responsibly and extend acts of kindness to the less privileged in society.

With the declaration, workers across the country are expected to enjoy an extended weekend as Muslims mark the end of Ramadan.
